Lots of Soundfonts - aprilla - 12-11-2024

I came across this archive of soundfonts, I don't use them but thought I'd share in case anyone here enjoys them  27

"This is a collection of 500 different GM-compatible soundfonts in SF2 format."

https://ia800401.us.archive.org/view_archive.php?archive=/16/items/500-soundfonts-full-gm-sets/500_Soundfonts_Full_GM_Sets.zip

And another archive...

I guess these soundfonts are everywhere!

Thanks for these

Many thanks for these links.

SF2 Soundfonts are a formidable opportunity to make an arranger/synth much better than what the factory makes it.
My previous Yamaha A-3000 became a monster with the right SF2, and blew Genos off the track.

So far I have not been able to import SF2 to my Pa5X due to many bugs, but this will be resolved, and then the Pa5X will be a SUPER monster.

Thank you very much for sharing! This is a gigantic work and I will definitely find something wonderful there!

Never used Sound fonts...So how are these used (loaded) into the keyboard Please ?.
Are they similar to VCE's ?

No - while VCE is based on internal sounds, SF2 is pure samples which require a lot of space.
You can't use SF2, because DGX doesn't have RAM availability.

I will try some of these even though on my Pa700 even though my memory is full at the moment. Dont forget to convert them to mono if anyone else is trying them.

Is the first archive available as a zip file?

I never used them either. I have seen some say they use them in their keyboards (I believe it was Eileen and a Tyros) but I don't know how it was done. I'm not ready to mess about with my keyboard with things like this yet so didn't look for further information.

The program CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth was mentioned for using soundfonts so I've downloaded it. I guess you can listen to the various soundfonts with it, on your computer. I might give that a try, see what they are about.

There are many very good SF2s among these; including the best available for use with the Creative Sound Blaster Gold 64 sound card.

I am now able to make use of all sound fonts, and can also export them for the enjoyment of other Pa5X users.

This is however laborious, but they will be presented when I find the time.
