HOW TO FIX YOUR AUDYA IF NOTHING WORKS - Chello - 08-13-2024

DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS

As previously mentioned, I managed to fix my Ketron Audya by inserting cloned files from one I had previously on a new disk.
Everything worked without bugs, and almost all styles worked 100%; only some audio styles were out of sync.
Also, I got the error message "Checksum error" when I used the software Compiler.

I found the following "fix" written by AJ (Mr. Ajamsonic) at Ketron USA that should fix this:

* Turn on your AUDYA.
* When it boots, press DISK to display the HD contents.
* Create a TEMP folder where you will be copying files into (shown below).
* After creating the TEMP folder, Scroll down to the file "9708f1av00.sam and press ENTER to load it. This prepares AUDYA to load the relative FLASH file next.
* When done, go to the SYSTEM folder and press enter (acknowledge warning by pressing ENTER again).
* Select the FACTORY folder and press ENTER.
* Select the SOUND folder and press ENTER.
* Go to the file "Audb0600.PCM" and highlight. [This is the file associated with the KetA05 chip]. Press DISK MENU and press ENTER to select this file (blue dot next to it).
* Press COPY (F1) to copy this file.
* Go back to temp folder created above and press EXECUTE to paste this file in there.
* Get out of DISK mode.
* Go back into disk and go into the TEMP folder to highlight and press ENTER on this file "Audb0600.PCM" to load it.
* When done, restart AUDYA.

I shouldn't have tried this, because the procedure results in a complete crash of all sounds.
The only thing I can do is clone everything again...

Damn take AJ at Ketron USA and his incompetence..!

RE: DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS - Chello - 08-14-2024

The keyboard is broken.
I deleted everything on the hard drive and pasted from the cloned copy, which took 10 hours.

Almost no sounds work normally. and no styles work normally.

All procedures have been followed to the letter - AJ as usual does not know what he is doing.
I well remember his Ajamsonic I bought that never worked properly and it got worse every time he tried to fix it.

So my Audya is broken thanks to AJ's incompetence and I don't know if I can fix it again.

RE: DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS - Chello - 08-14-2024

I ran a Hardware Test/Firmware Check, and got 6 ERROR messages:

Ket A03 - ERROR!
Ket A04 - ERROR!
Ket A05 - ERROR!
Ket A06 - ERROR!
Ket A10 - ERROR!
Ket A11 - ERROR!

Well and good, but how this can be fixed is another matter - no info available...

I may have found the solution or something quite close to a solution - But it will be a bit of a job...
Henni has written this:

A) HOW TO PERFORM THE CHECK SUM TEST ON THE AUDYA

1. Keep the F1 key pressed down and switch the machine ON. Release the key when on the display the menu with the first diagnostics of the instrument appears.
2. Press the F5 CONTINUE" key. On the display the single sections of the test menu appear.
1. Press the F2 key to access the DSP0 (9708) menu to carry out the Flash checksum tests.
2. Press the ENTER key to perform the test on all flash memories in sequence, from 1 to 11.

F9: KetA09 B80F62EC
F10: KetA10 EA609798
1/6: KetA11 42638FB2

If there are no errors displayed, press EXIT several times to exit the Test Menu. Audya will be automatically restarted.

If, instead, there are errors shown for one or more flash memories, write down the relevant name (e.g. KetA01, KetA03, etc.) shown on the left-hand side of the display, after the indications F1, F3, etc., and press EXIT several times to exit the Test Menu.
Audya will be automatically restarted. Follow the indications of section B) to restore the data.

B) HOW TO RESTORE WRONG CHECKSUMS

Important:
If the corrupt flash memory should be Ket02, before rewriting go to the main Root and select the 9708f1av00,SAM file, then press ENTER to load it. Then the following operations can be executed.

1. While the instrument is ON, press DISK to go to the main directory (C:\).
2. Go to folder C:\SYSTEM and press the ENTER key (twice); select the FACTORY folder with the DATA/VALUE wheel and confirm by pressing the ENTER key. Select the SOUND folder with the DATA/VALUE wheel and confirm by pressing the ENTER button. On the display a list appears. Use the table below to select the files you are interested in, then press ENTER.

A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
If the flash memories test shows that there is an error in "KetA05" (ERR), select file KET0600.PCM (see the table below) and then press the ENTER key to start loading.
Once the loading phase is completed (requiring about 10 minutes per flash memory), repeat the TEST to make sure that the operation was completed successfully.

IMPORTANT: if during loading the message "Flash write error" appears, contact the technical service of KETRON s.r.l..

1. On the main screen page, press the F5 USER 1/6 keys at the same time. On the display a test page is displayed, with a list of points with the indication OK at the right side.
2. Press the >> FORWARD key and on the left lower area of the display the current ALLTABS version is displayed, i.e. 2C349B72
3. Press the EXIT key to go back to the main menu of Audya.
4. If the Check sum of the All Tabs file is wrong, proceed as follows to restore it:
5. Open the SYSTEM folder, open the FACTORY folder and then the TABLE folder.
6. Select the ALLTABS.TAB file and confirm by pressing the ENTER key.
7. Once the loading phase is completed, repeat operations 1 and 2 of paragraph C.

D) OTHER CHECKS TO BE PERFORMED FROM THE TEST MENU

1) Keep the F1 key pressed down and switch the machine ON. Release the key when on the display the menu with the first diagnostics appears.
2) Press the F5 CONTINUE" key. On the display the single sections of the test menu appear.
3) Press the F1 key to access the test checking the correct functioning of the switches and the potentiometer, pedals, modulation and pitch bender.

RE: DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS - Chello - 08-14-2024

I have managed to locate all .PCM source files, and should thus be able to reset them all to the correct addresses.

Lots of work - we'll see.

RE: DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS - Chello - 01-01-2025

I forgot to follow up with the result, which was successful.

I have also created a procedure to fix styles that are out of sync, but have not fully implemented this on Audya yet.

RE: DO NOT TRUST WHAT KETRON USA SAYS - Chello - 06-16-2026

✪Jose

Nice that you fixed 2 keyboards with the help of this information, which was very difficult to obtain, and today is only available from us.

There is also another very important thing about Audya and bugs:

NEVER use USB sticks in Audya's front for data transfer, and do not leave a stick in one of the ports, because both USB ports sabotage a lot of functions - data transfer should only be done with a cable between USB Host and PC, and this does not work if there is a stick in one of the ports.

All edits on Audya should be saved to its internal hard drive in a separate folder.

You should also make very frequent backups of its internal hard drive, because this is of a very poor and unstable type that can stop working without warning.
