HOW THE NEW GENOS SHOULD BE - Chello - 09-09-2023 HOW THE NEW GENOS SHOULD BE I have had most of the models from Yamaha, and the one I like best is the DGX-670, despite the fact that this is a mid-range model. Best sound, much better mixed and balanced than all other models and best keybed. If Yamaha uses this as a base, adds the joystick from the A-3000 (which is better than the Genos), adds memory, and expands the interface, they will have a new Genos that will surprise everyone.

It will be interesting to see what Yamaha will include on their next flagship arranger. I think we all know it will be pricey whatever it does. Yamaha have had quite a few years in which to develop a new model and have seen what the others have included (or yet to include) in their recent offerings such as the Korg PA5X and Ketron Event. Yamaha normally start by realeasing 'teaser' videos with short clips without actually revealing what is looks like or does. I also expect we will see a raft of useless videos from that Romanian outfit that proclaims to know everything about every keyboard made of about to be made. Time will tell! RE: HOW THE NEW GENOS SHOULD BE - bazt - 09-10-2023 @CHELLO Despite what you think you want, sometimes Yamaha does actually listen to their customers. I went to a seminar some time ago in York. They went round the table, asking what each person wanted to see on the next model. That would have been the T5 at that time. Lots of things were mooted. All very exciting, but I said simply, more user memory SSD drive and the ability to use a USB keyboard. Well they missed that out on the T5, however it appeared on the Genos. ( keyboard recognition & SSD ) but still no USB 3 We will indeed have to wait and see for any improvements, such as tiltable display. For me, this a MUST. Barrie T RE: HOW THE NEW GENOS SHOULD BE - Chello - 09-10-2023 Nickt & Barrie Thanks for the wise inputs. My guess is that the new Genos will include features that surprise - Yamaha almost has to do this to succeed. If we manage to find out what is missing from Genos, Event and Pa5X, we might find an answer. The technology behind keyboards is far behind computer equipment, and USB 3 is probably the best we can hope for, although USB C should be the expected standard. Or maybe it comes with USB C, since Steinberg's sound card also uses this ? Several of Genos' internal components already work with 32 bit, so who knows ? In any case, I am reasonably sure that they will leave 16 bit, and upgrade to the current standard which is 24 bit. Korg has already used this for years, while Roland uses 32 bit on some models. |
