Who are we really doing this for - musicalmemoriesuk - 09-05-2023 We spend so much time tweaking sounds, styles and researching things on our arrangers. Who are we really trying to impress? Will we ever find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Why ask this question, apart from the few members on here, are other people really interested in arranger keyboards. RE: Who are we really doing this for - Chello - 09-05-2023 Today's philosophical remark..? Incidentally, I have studied philosophy for several years, and have often asked myself this question. The answer may be that, like all other artists, we are looking for recognition for what we do. Artists are all narcissists to some degree.
RE: Who are we really doing this for - musicalmemoriesuk - 09-06-2023 It’s just an observation, but I guess in this day and age when so many people collect retro items people would ask the same thing. I’ll probably never get recognised for what I do, but for me personally I just furthering my knowledge. You have already been recognized for what you have done here in the forum, and many thousands of guests visit us every day. Your efforts are perhaps more known and recognized than we know.
RE: Who are we really doing this for - musicalmemoriesuk - 09-06-2023 Thank You. As far as this Forum is concerned I just pass on to others what I have learned which may or may not be of use, even if what I’ve learned is not completely correct. Yourself and Qui help to look at things from a different angle or to amend what your trying to achieve. If your goal is to get recognition online, then you could better stop, you will hardly get remarks on the things you are doing. I think the most important thing is to do it for yourself. Every minute you spent on learning things you will improve a thing of your skills. For me this is the main reason, I'm not interested in doing things once I've learned them, I just apply them. I find the learning process much more interesting and everytime I spent a few hours on things I can't do and afterwards I'm able to do it then I'm really happy. And I do share some of the things i've learned online, and if I can help one person with it then I'm happy too. And if I see that a topic that I find interesting to share gets a lot of attention I assume that more and more people are enjoying it and in most cases I make more videos about that topic. If the interest is lacking than I go on to the next synth, daw, process or topic for my online tutorials. So the online response is for me more a measurement if people are interested in these things or not. RE: Who are we really doing this for - whitecolin1 - 09-11-2023 ive found in most keyboard forums very little interaction. Yet in other forums like Motorhome life etc. people posts have numerous comments advice etc, Its bizarre. RE: Who are we really doing this for - Graham UK - 09-11-2023 The majority of keyboard owners are simply just happy to sit and play and are not interested in making adjustments to obtain sound improvements. Unfortunately they miss out on the possible potential their brand of board could give them. It's all part of our wonderful hobby and we enjoy it the best way we know how, and possibly give help to others when required...Very often without aknowledgement. RE: Who are we really doing this for - BogdanH - 09-11-2023 Interesting topic... Good question by musicalmemoriesuk: Who are we really trying to impress? Of course, being humble, we will always say that we do all that for our self -which is true.. partially. I mean, in that case we could also just sit in our rooms and simply learn playing and discover stuff about keyboard we have. And that's why I think Chello hit the nail by saying: " The answer may be that, like all other artists, we are looking for recognition for what we do." -which is not true for "artists" only I think, because everyone seeks for recognition and confirmation in society... that's how we are. Playing keyboard is passionate hobby for most forum members (no matter how good/bad are we at it). Here we can share what we learned so far and at the same time we can also learn from others and improve. But as someone said, if we are really looking for recognition, then we're probably wasting time. For example: you spent hours, days, maybe weeks to learn playing some music "perfectly" and then you decide to publish your "masterpiece" on Youtube. And then you realize you only got 27 views. I mean, seriously? You should better make a video of cat falling from the chair and you'd probably get 50k views. What I'm saying is, we should keep in mind that playing keyboard is "my hobby" and so, simply enjoying the hobby should be enough -otherwise it can happen you'll cut your ear off (hello V. van Gogh) Greetings, Bogdan RE: Who are we really doing this for - musicalmemoriesuk - 09-12-2023 It’s one thing getting the views on social media, but it’s how long they actually stay and watch what you upload before moving on to the next video. |
