WHAT IS SWING REALLY ? - Chello - 07-29-2023 WHAT IS SWING REALLY ? Swing is something that has fascinated me since I was a child. Just a few years old, I started recording from the radio - I borrowed my father's stereo in the early mornings while everyone was asleep. One particular musician caught my interest, because he did everything differently, moving off the beat; both later and faster, with extensive use of syncopating chords. He did this with both hands, because he was a pianist. His name was Erroll Garner, and he couldn't play by sheet music. In my opinion, he is the greatest swing jazz musician who ever lived. Here is a song that very well demonstrates his way of playing, and I am also attaching a recording I made with Tyros1, where I try to play as he did. RE: WHAT IS SWING REALLY ? - Roshure - 07-29-2023 I am a fan of Errol Garner two. Others greatest as Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, etc. Greetings Mr. Chello. A big Hug. Fernando.
