SONG TO STYLE WITH PA5X - A MIXED EXPERIENCE - Chello - 01-26-2023 SONG TO STYLE WITH PA5X - A MIXED EXPERIENCE I now have some experience in creating styles from midi to Pa5X with Style Works. 10 styles have been good enough so far, but I've made about 200; so 190 styles have had to be discarded. 5% success is a bad statistic. Korg has always been difficult and demanding in this area, while almost all styles work well with Yamaha, with the Tyros4 being the champion of them all. The problem is that there are no substitute guitars and pianos that give a clean sound - the sound becomes harsh and distorted. This applies to guitars and pianos in all libraries. Even if I use GM2 or GM, the result is like this. Other formats are even worse. I know that there are almost no midi files that have an original GM format, as most are converted from XG. I have always argued that it is a bad idea to convert from XG to GM, while the industry tells us that this is fine. I know better, and can explain this by stating that XG contains extended parameters, which disappear when converted to GM or another format - XG is an extended format like no other. This is the explanation why only a few GM files sound as they should - the vast majority are converted from XG. Then someone will probably claim that real GM files can be bought from, for example, DOO. NO. All the files I have tested from DOO are XG, even though DOO says they are GM - they lack XG's extended parameters to give the right sound. They all present the same problem of guitars and pianos sounding terrible no matter what you try. I can only hope that Korg manages to make the Style Creator Bot so well that it does what Style Works can't. RE: SONG TO STYLE WITH PA5X - A MIXED EXPERIENCE - whitecolin1 - 01-26-2023 your absolutely right about that, also for some reason the T4 style/converts always seem better. |
