Korg Song Styles

I would like to have ago at turning some song styles into generic styles following Robinez latest tutorial video. So I am on the look out for some Korg Song Styles to try this out.

It should be quite successful, because this is very easy to do once you've done it a few times.
I have been doing this for years and have enjoyed it immensely.

In recent times I have done the opposite; adding tracks with suitable instruments/patterns, which is much more difficult.

Ive run some early tests. Copying and Pasting tracks from one style to another. 
Firstly internal or styles such as the bonusware styles tend to work better. 
Secondly the style needs to be in the same time signature
There are certain tracks that are generally linked the drum and bass tracks tend to tie in together.

Your observations are correct.
Almost all styles can work better by changing one or more patterns.

As for the time signature, it is often a prerequisite that this is the same for both, but it is also possible to use different time signatures on one or more tracks (insane results can be achieved with this for those who master it).

Actually, all tracks are generally in principle linked to each other, but they don't have to be, while drums and bass are the ones that are most clearly linked to each other.

Modern jazz is an example of the extent to which it is possible to use drums and bass that do not have a clear link.


Creating styles using this method is one of the most fun things I've ever done.

The reason why DOO song styles don't sound very good on Korg is that these are all in XG format.
Incidentally, DOO sells midi in what they call GM format, but they are actually XG that have been "converted" to GM.

It is impossible to achieve a full-fledged conversion from XG to GM, because XG has far more and extended parameters than GM, and these are omitted or limited during conversion.
Elmar Herz styles also use XG.

I have recently tested a lot of styles and midis from DOO and Elmar Herz, and found that they are all XG based, and therefore give a bad sound regardless of effort.
