KETRON AUDYA - ONE OF THE BEST

KETRON AUDYA - ONE OF THE BEST

My current Audya was purchased with a broken screen and hard drive.
I have spent days reading what AJ and Henni write about how to fix all things, but this has not solved my problems.
I managed to fix the screen, but how to create a new disk ?

I had cloned a previous Audya's hard drive, but needed the drive itself...
A new blank disk bought from eBay did not work at all.

Then I got an idea:
The Tyros1 had an additional 40GB disk independent of its OS. What if I put the cloned Audya on this via the USB connection ?
The process went perfectly fine, but took 9 hours due to USB 1.0 speed.

This was then mounted in Audya, and the keyboard started up as normal.
Everything worked as it should, except styles with Audio drums, which were out of sync; all together.
Also, styles marked with R did not work.
This was because the cloned version was not basic as it had 3 upgrade pins installed - the serial number no longer matched.

My previous Audya had the same problem, but at the time I found a program that could change the hard drive serial number with binary values, and I couldn't find this program again.

So how could I get all the styles to work normally ?
The answer is actually very simple:
By installing OS 4.1a.

After this was installed, all styles marked with R worked, and most Audio styles as well.

The remaining updates 4.1b/4.2b/5.3d/5.4b/5.4c will be installed one by one and hopefully all styles will then work properly.

So I now have an Audya that cost almost nothing that works very well, and many of the internal styles are better than both those on the Genos and the Pa5X.

Yes; us nostalgic among ourselves.  22
Audya is much better than I remember and it's quite strange that I should say this after almost 2 years of using the Pa5X.

Updating the OS with the different versions one by one seems to be problematic - nothing happens.
I'll have to try some more and see what happens, but regardless, Audya works very well with the earliest OS.

No other keyboard I've tried has as many really good drum kits as the Audya, and the dynamics are better than on the Pa5X - sick but true.

It is also the only keyboard that is better than the Tyros4 when it comes to styles from midi, as well as the ability to play converted styles from all possible manufacturers.

I have collected about 10,000 styles that I will be testing soon, and these are just some of the ones I have.

I would love to keep keyboard, organs, but the most thing that fail is the screen touch sensitive ... and its hard to find these replacement screens for organ or keyboard. Thats where the old analogue system was better no screens just switches all manual

Everything was more durable with physical switches.
Replacing these with push buttons leads to contact problems over time, of which OASYS is a good example - almost none of these work after a few years of use, while slide potentiometers, rotary potentiometers and touch screen work just as well as when they were new.

Kronos' slide potentiometers had poor contact after a short period of use.

The Pa2X also had problematic push buttons, while the touch screen on the Pa3X and Pa4X worked poorly even when new, with the Pa4X being the worst.

All types of push buttons and potentiometers can be made so that they last approximately forever, but this is expensive.

Physical switches can be made relatively cheaply and yet never cause similar problems.
