HIGH-PROFILE JOBS WITHOUT EDUCATION

HIGH-PROFILE JOBS WITHOUT EDUCATION

My mother always said that "You get what you want" and "You have all the answers yourself".
She was right.

My grandfather was a formwork carpenter, foreman and project manager, and responsible for the construction of large buildings in the municipality.
He had no education.

My mother was the local tailor, housekeeper and interior designer.
She had no education.

My brother was a facilitator for one of the largest offshore companies in Norway.
He had no education.

My father's brother was a toolmaker for a company with over 600 employees, and invented many machines and other things.
He had no education, but took his diploma at the age of 50.

I have been self-employed, been a foreman, and worked as a CNC operator with responsibility for training new workers, responsibility for an apprentice (who got the best grades ever), and responsibility for maintenance of measuring tools.
I have been the country's adviser for immigrants for 10 years.
I have no education.

For years the employment office has claimed that you cannot get such jobs without education.
They were wrong - you get what you want.

Chello. So very true, myself left school without qualifications, but by putting the work and time in and you can achieve most things.
Any company I have worked with I have alway worked harder and produced more than was expected of me.
I was offered the position of UK Sales Director which I accepted on the understanding I would not be office bound but preferred to stay outside servicing all my UK accounts which was a win-win for all concerned.

Bottom line is work within a subject you enjoy and get paid for ding it.

@Graham

I have also always done the same - worked harder and produced more than what was expected.
A funny case was a production record per shift that had stood since 1964 at 33 cylinders for pistons - I produced 92 a day in 2012.

I managed this by systematizing and optimizing all processes.

Employers are very enthusiastic about systematization and optimization, especially when this is done free of charge by the employee.
