Genos 2 Aftermath
#1
The repercussion  of the Genos 2 launch. After a less the stellar reception of the G2 and the subsequent price reduction £3600 currently this has had a catastrophic effect on the G1 price £1700 from a main dealer with warranty.
great news for someone looking for a G1 but not so good for the dealers.
Some dealers have 50 genos and wont take them in p/x also dealers have a back log of G2 they can`t sell so a massive from bill from yamaha and dead stock.
Obviously this has a knock on effect on other keyboards.
I think this will be yamaha last venture into high end arrangers.

It is interesting to witness what happens with Yamaha.

It is almost even more interesting to witness what is happening with Korg, because while some people are still trying to sell their new Pa5X on the second-hand market, earlier models such as the Pa700, Pa1000 and Pa4X are being offered at prices that in many cases exceed the original new price in the shop...!

In the middle of this madness, we see that those who bought Genos2 sell this, and buy a Genos1 plus a Pa5X instead.

Many sworn Yammies have left Yamaha and switched to Korg, while those who hate the Pa5X buy the Pa700, Pa1000 or Pa4X, which can still be obtained brand new from some stores.

The big difference between Yamaha and Korg is that disaffected Yammies go to Korg, while Korgies stay with Korg, buying older models.

The winner is undoubtedly Ketron, and especially their Event, which has avoided all the problems the others have had and are having.

Ketron is almost not found on the second-hand market, which must be considered a positive.

This is how the conditions are in Norway.

Perhaps they are hiding because they are ashamed and disgusted by their own mistakes.

Yamaha which has launched an arranger that lacks functional basic functionality; and I mean the two features that should make the G2 so amazing.
It's not fantastic when it's not possible to save these as your own settings, but pure fraud.

And Korg, which has made an arranger without any of these shortcomings, but which is not followed up with (necessary) updates.

Casio are actually very good at certain things when they want to.
They scared the world with their CTK-811ex in 1998 and MZ2000 in 2000.

The CTK-811ex was my first keyboard, and it was incredibly easy to achieve everything possible, including creating new sounds from scratch.
It also came with well-functioning conversion software on 2 disks, which could make good styles of most things from Roland and Technics.
It cost 30% less than the nearest competitor, which was a Roland.

It would have been funny if they had repeated this experiment and scared the wits out of the others.

Medeli tried with their AKX-10, but effectively buried themselves, as this was a horror example of how badly an arranger can be made.

Makes one wonder just how much % Yammy gave the dealer towards PART-EX G1 for G2.
Unlikely the dealer will be losing money.

A friend with a Pa5X recently visited his dealer and stated dealers shop was full of USED G1's.
