NEW TYPE OF STYLES: DOUBLE DRUMS & BASS STYLES

   

As I have only recently mentioned, I have now resumed a project I started in 2015.
So far the result is extremely successful, as I have managed to add an extra track for drums and one for bass.
This provides unique opportunities to achieve a more effective sound from drums and bass, with extra punch.

At first this was impossible to achieve with the Pa5X, but I found that the solution lay in placing drums and bass at the bottom of the track list.

The first style is already ready.

I'm still experimenting to determine how the placement of the extra drums and bass affects the result.

Pa5X is different from others, probably because bass is placed first in the track row.

If one of the extra tracks is placed in the wrong order, this results in drums or bass disappearing on one or more tracks.
In any case, I am partially succeeding, and this is pioneering work that is extremely rewarding.

Here is an overview of what I do.

   

As you can see, Drums (8-DUP - Piano 1) and Bass (9-DUP - Fretless Bass) must be placed as ACC3 and ACC4.
If this order is changed, the consequence is a style partially without drums and bass for some tracks.
Also notice that I have changed the octave, which has a decisive effect.
The purpose is to achieve a greater dynamic range for drums in the upper octaves, plus a greater dynamic range for bass in the lower octaves.

   

The last image shows the additional tracks for drums and bass (DUP) in grey.

I found the reason why duplicate drums sound strange - they have Note Limit 67 - 84, while the correct value (obviously) should be 0 - 127 for 8-DUP - Piano 1.

It is still the case that this is a challenge for the keyboard's limited access to (advanced) drum kits, and some from Kronos will work very well, but this will have to wait until Korg releases an update that allows sampling in stereo with SF2.
